What others are saying

Thanks hugely for your professional and tailored advice given during a very valuable 1 hour coaching session! I came to you because I wanted to improve my technique. I have to say, I have put the lessons learned in the "endless pool" into action immediately and I can already see the results in terms of reduced tiredness and increased speed. I will certainly be coming along again.

Excellent session for my daughter Mary with Jack on Friday – apart from being very motivational he taught us both a lot. Mary took 2 seconds off her 100F/C time on Sunday – so I guess that’s proof it worked!

"The swim therapy experience was great from start to finish. Spurred on by the many good reports we had heard about Swim Therapy, my husband and I made the trip from Ireland and both felt it was a very worthwhile day. I was amazed at how my perception of how I swam was so different the stark (and often embarassing!) reality of the video. It has given me a more grounded sense of my stroke and what I need to work on to improve. The sessions my husband and I had were very different which highlighted the very individual and specific approach taken by Nigel. We both intend to return in the next couple of months to build on what we have learnt and hopefully continue to improve." Posted 4th April 2008
Just wanted to thank you for a great session today as a coach for 15 years it is very refreshing to be able to have access to such a facility.
From my point of view it was a valauble 90mins session focussing on some key areas of Chelsea's stroke on FR and FLY, the key to the whole session was that Chelsea could see this for herself what she was doing in the water and understand from viewing on the large screen straightaway what aspects of the stroke needed attention, instant feedback.
The introduction of correct drills during the session were at the right intensity and executed to a good standard but leaving Chelsea with that thought "What I need to focus on in training back at the club"..
Chelsea has got some valuable footage on the CD of the session which we will use as a reference point to develop her stroke. It would be good to revisit.
Congratulations on a top setup, only wish you were 20mins down the road. Well worth making the effort to come over to Leicester (1hr 35mins away) and look forward to working with you again very soon.
Thanks again for memorable afternoon, already looking forward to my next visit.

Hello Nigel and Jack,
Following my recent Swim Therapy session I would like to forward the following comments.
I'd like to thank both Nigel and Jack for their support during the session. The facilities are absolutely first class, the electronic digital photographic equipment is nothing short of brilliant. The teaching technique is easy to understand and the instructions given easy to implement.
The instructors are clearly passionate about their job and this is reflected in their attitude and also the expense which must have gone into building such a brilliant facility.
I have implemented all the drills which were suggested to me and already my stroke has shown improvement. The session CD which I received has proved to be essential when I need to remind myself of my session.
I look forward to visiting once again to improve one of my other strokes.
Thanks once again for all your help..
Sandeep Kaur.
My first hour long session taught me that I have a lot to learn in order to make some significant progress. Nigel was very professional in the way that he delivered the session and was not patronizing in any way. The playback and discussion around the video sessions are of real value. The dvd I have come away with is a great reminder of the technique that we discussed and that I have subsequently to put into action. A very interesting and I am sure, rewarding session. Thank you
I found the session really useful as it made me think about what I should be doing to maximise my stroke. I had never thought about the ''science'' of it until the coach at swim therapy, Jack, began to talk about it. The use of the underwater cameras was such a benefit as what you think your doing may not necessarily be the case! With the coaching I received, I could even see a small difference by the end of the session. The facilities were great and the DVD I have of the session ensures that I can keep reminding myself of my aims. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and will be booking another session in the near future.
Thanks,

Excellent session, Tom thoroughly enjoyed the experience, he has learnt a great deal about how his technique should be and is keen to put it into practice. Coach, Jack was completely on his level, explained clearly both verbally and with the use of the cameras. PC disc of the session with voiceover is great to reinforce all he learnt and interesting to watch.
Thanks, will definitely book another session and would highly recommend.
Hi Nigel
Just a quick note to let you know that the girls are doing well with their technique and have recently improved on their times.
Note from Zoe aged 13yrs:-
After the swim tank I have concentrated on my technique in front crawl and took in all your advice. Since then I have improved from a 1.06 to a 1.05 then 1 week later to a 1.04 for my 100m free. In my 200m free I took 5 seconds off my time, and in my 400m free I took 17seconds off my time and I really enjoyed the race. I really enjoyed visiting the swim tank and finding out what I needed to do to get better and it clearly shows I have listened and from that I have improved. Looking forward to my next visit to work on my backstroke.
See you soon
ZOE. XO
Note from Amy aged 14ys:-
Following my trip to the swim tank I have kept working hard with my front crawl technique. I never realized how poor my technique actually was and from watching the DVD I now have a better understanding of what I have to do to keep it right. Having the DVD to refer back to once in a while really helps so I can keep adjusting the faults with my stroke. Since the swim tank I have improved in front crawl with a 12 second PB in my 400m, 8 second PB in 200m and 1 1/2 second PB in 100m. I really enjoyed my visit a lot and I'm very excited to go back. I do recommend it to anyone who is serious about improving.

Jordan has gained a clearer understanding of his strokes and how to improve, the value of the video playback is not to be underestimated. The simple drills and teaching points given were easy to understand and implement, so all Jordan has to do now is persist in his practice. The extra copy DVD for our Coach means that he can see what has been said and also benefit from the video to assist in continuing Jordan's progress and Jordan has his own copy to remind him in the future.
Jordan is keen to improve and we believe that with the knowledge he has gained from his session with you and his persistence, he will improve his strokes to the desired level. He has made a good start implementing the changes, making a determined effort to practice the points raised at every opportunity.
Thank you.

Fantastic! My husband booked me a session for a Christmas present to try to boost my triathlon times. SwimTherapy has amazing hi-tech facilities which are put to their optimum use by the very knowledgeable coaches. The session was hugely enjoyable and interesting and the coaching was superb. The information from the coach was then reinforced on the invaluable DVD. All I need now is CycleTherapy and RunTherapy!
I should just mention that as a somewhat tentative female travelling by myself, I felt completely comfortable and at ease with the whole situation due to the professionalism of SwimTherapy.
Thank you.
The facilities were good. The coach (Jack) worked seamlessly with our club head coach in terms of addressing the points identified by the club for each swimmer to work on.
I felt the video analysis was an immensely powerful tool to demonstrate the difference between swimmer perception of technique and the reality, and from there making appropriate corrections.
I feel Swim Therapy is an excellent way of speeding up the process of stroke correction and we will be back.

Both our daughters love competitive swimming. They both train with and swim for a Midland Speedo League Div 1 team and have competed nationally for their school at U13 and U12 level. However, there is much more they could learn, particularly in terms of technique. We were attracted to SwimTherapy by the opportunity it provided for both one-to-one coaching and the underwater/slow-motion view provided by the camera/computer set-up. We were not disappointed.
The sessions were coached by Jack Lay whose relaxed style with and clever questioning of our daughters quickly highlighted some key areas on which to concentrate. After the warm-up, these areas were investigated via the underwater camera arrangement. In our younger daughter, we quickly identified an issue on rotation in the freestyle and later with the second leg-kick in the fly. With our older daughter, it was her freestyle legkick and the rotation on her backstroke that needed attention. At the same time, Jack was able to identify and praise the positives and indeed instil a confidence in our older daughter that she did not have in her own backstroke. The sessions gave them each as individuals something to think about and concentrate on with their own technique and from last night's training session it seems there has already been some improvement!
The sessions were relaxed, interesting and enjoyable - in our view, value for money. The facilities were warm and clean and the endless pool arrangement worked well."
Working with Swim Therapy is helping me enormously in becoming a swimmer rather than just someone who can swim.
One to one working means that every session is tailored to my personal needs.
Filming in the tank and analysing the output is not only interesting and effective, it's also great fun.
These guys know what they're doing and love to see you improve. Work with them and you will.

Hi Nigel
I would be delighted to give you my comments.
The facilities are excellent. It is great to be able to see your child swim 'under' the water as well as from all angles, which you don't normally get to see. The child benefits most from this facility because they can analyse their own technique and immediately see any improvement. And the CD you take away with you is a constant reminder and motivation.
Everything is professional and clean. The changing facilities and showers and other little touches all add to the service.
Jack Lay is superb with Adam and his ability to explain and communicate with a boy of his age is a tremendous help. Adam thinks he's 'cool'!
Whenever I've had to telephone whoever has answered the phone has been very helpful and polite. We always get the appointment we would like.
So far I've recommended the service to everyone at the club who has heard we've been, and will continue to do so. The Templar family will soon be contacting you, and in January the Perkins and McKnights.
We are so glad we found you - it was just the boost Adam needed.

My first visit to Swim Therapy was about 18 months ago.
I am a latecomer to swimming, learning freestyle to compete in triathlons.
I am not a "natural swimmer" and had difficulty in gaining good technique.
I attended a variety of swim coaching days/training camps which had took
my swimming to a certain level but I wasn't satisfied with this and was really
determined to improve beyond this.
My first session was a revelation, to actually see what I looked like in the
water was quite alarming! Nigel and Jack have proved patient and as determined
as me for my swimming to improve, trying all different approaches to correcting
faults and teaching me correct technique, this has not always been easy!
Swim Therapys state of the art video and computer equipment provide you with
quality video analysis which is invaluable! To be able to break down each element of the stroke and study each phase individually really helps you realise what is actually
happening and how to correct any faults.
18 months later my swimming is one of lifes pleasures. I feel comfortable and
confident in the water and now coach my training companions. I have still alot
to learn so aim to visit Swim Therapy every 4-6 weeks. I have learnt that there
is no "quick fix" to swimming, but with regular visits and then going away and
practising what we have worked on, my stroke is now coming together nicely.
Nigel and Jack are always just a phone call or email away for any questions or
advice.
I would recommend Swim Therapy to anyone who is "serious" about improving
their swim stroke.

Having come down for my first session with 'Swim Therapy' on Monday of this week,I would just like to share a few comment's with you.
First of all I was very 'impressed' with the whole 'relaxed' set up,and may I add very 'clean' as well.
I had 'booked' a 60 min session and as you would expect 'in the dark' what happens,
As a 'Tri' Coach myself,I found 'Jack's' knowledge and 'above all' coaching 'style' absolutely 'first' class,
He 'picked up some 'point's about my swim very 'quickly' and gave me loads to work on........
thanks' again, see you in two month's
'will recommend'

Hi Nigel, great session, it was a real motivating experience for my daughter. Her swimming has been 'stuck in a rut' for 12mths and she has been a bit down. In the car on the way home she didn't stop talking about it. We all learned a lot. Well done! Val. 5.12.07
Name --Eric Blakie aged 54 member of Ryton Triathlon club in NE England.I've been doing tri's for about 6 years.Competative at top level in my age group from Sprint to Ironman.
Facilities --very clean,modern and professional.
The session---excellent ! It take s a few minutes to get used to the endless pool but after that my coach Jack was very easy to understand and very calm throughout.
My problem was that after 6 years of swimming I had ceased to improve and I know from previous underwater footage that what I think I'm doing and what I'm actually doing are two entirely different things. The session enabled me to visualise that much more clearly and then see the difference that the Coach's instructions made--immediately.I took home the DVD with commentary, played it again that evening and was in the pool 7.00am next morning.I was able to focus on my problem areas and noticed an immediate improvement in ease of swimming.
I would recommend the facility to any body who seriously wants to improve --and go for the two hours --its not all swimming and passes very quickly!
Cheers
Eric
What a great service and set up! Within minutes your watching your video playback looking at your faults then being advised what to do next... It's great to see the improvements on the screen during the session. Very clean facilities and lots of good knowledge was given to take away and practise further, so two happy customers here! We both had an hour session each and certainly learned more than time spent doing a whole swim weekend. 29th Nov 2007
